TWNIC, Nominet and DotAsia join forces to join the APAC Trusted Notifier Network, strengthening global domain name trust and security.
Taipei – May 9, 2025: Today, Nominet – the guardian of the .UK domain, Taiwan Network Information Center (TWNIC), the Registry for .TW domains, and DotAsia Organisation (DotAsia), Registry Operator for .Asia , signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to join the APAC Trusted Notifier Network.
The Trusted Notifier mechanism is a crucial resource used by registries and registrars to combat DNS Abuse. As part of the Trusted Notifier Network, registries can receive, review and quickly handle malicious activity, and further strengthen the security and stability of the DNS ecosystem.
The partnership marks the first collaboration between TWNIC, Nominet, and DotAsia, demonstrating our strong commitment to improving Internet governance and reflecting the international community’s high expectations for strengthening DNS governance and combating abuse. Not only is this a deepening of the cooperation between the top-level domain name registries of .TW, .UK and .Asia on the issues of trust and security, but the initiative also promotes and reinforces best practices for the governance of the DNS.
“At a time when trust and security are increasingly emphasised in the global Internet, it is of great significance for TWNIC to join hands with Nominet and DotAsia,” says Jo-Fan Yu, CEO, TWNIC. “Our joint launch of the Trusted Notifier mechanism is not only a positive response to the responsibility of DNS governance, but also a new benchmark for the two top-level domain name administrators of Taiwan and the UK to work together on global domain name governance. In the future, TWNIC will continue to promote international co-operation with openness, professionalism and responsibility, and contribute more to global cybersecurity.”
“We’re proud to join a number of parties who have signed this Memorandum of Understanding, signifying our joint intention to work together to manage DNS Abuse issues,” adds David Carroll, Chief Customer Officer, Nominet. “We look forward to collectively creating a workable solution to tackle this issue, especially against the background of the WSIS+20 Review and regulatory activities by different governments.”
“In line with our vision for a collaborative Asia-Pacific Internet community, DotAsia is proud to partner with TWNIC and Nominet to demonstrate our strong commitment to improve DNS governance and combat abuse,” says Edmon Chung, CEO, DotAsia. “We look forward to the continued expansion and strengthening of this cooperative effort across the region.”
The Trusted Notifier’s key objectives include reducing the social harm caused by DNS Abuse and creating a safer cyberspace; leveraging expertise to accelerate and optimise the process of reviewing abuse cases; and reducing operational costs.
The APAC region is a global leader in the promotion of the Trusted Notifier mechanism, demonstrating initiative by establishing a number of co-operative partnerships on cases, including the first case of TWNIC and DotAsia signing an initial co-operation agreement to establish the mechanism, and the subsequent participation of TWNIC and CSC, CSC and ID-CERT, CSC and .TOP Registry, and CSC and LINE Taiwan.
