Oxford, UK – 7th July 2025: Nominet, guardian of the .UK domain, is now a gold-level sponsor of PeeringDB – the industry source for interconnection data.

PeeringDB is a free, crucial internet resource that serves as a database for internet networks to publish their peering information. This is a free, centralised resource where networks can find contact details, peering locations, and technical information about other networks. It helps them connect directly with each other, cutting out middlemen and improving internet performance. This approach reduces delays (latency), improves internet service quality, and makes the internet more reliable by creating multiple connection paths.

Without PeeringDB, it would be much harder for networks to find each other and set up these connections. The platform plays a vital role in keeping the internet running smoothly.

PeeringDB is a non-profit initiative, maintained and supported by volunteers. Nominet’s sponsorship will help keep this valuable resource free and available to the global internet community.

“We’re proud to support PeeringDB, recognising its importance to the running of the internet.”

“It’s the place to find network interconnection information, making it easier to troubleshoot issues or explore potential network improvements. This is made even more impressive by its network of dedicated volunteers. The internet would be less efficient without it, so it’s important that organisations like ours ensure it continues to thrive.”

Oliver Tweedie, CTO at Nominet

“PeeringDB is delighted to welcome Nominet as our newest Gold sponsor.”

“We are supported solely by sponsorships that fund operations and new feature development to make interconnection easier for everyone. The generosity of contributors like Nominet is what makes this possible.”

Shawna Bong, Secretary and Treasurer of PeeringDB
